Classification

The laser used in this product is classified as Class IIIa under U.S. federal regulation 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 (FDA/CDRH performance standards for laser products)
Class IIIa lasers are considered low risk for momentary, unintended exposure, but direct, prolonged, or focused viewing of the beam can still be hazardous to the eyes
The device carries the labeling required under 21 CFR 1040.10, including certification and warning labels identifying the laser class
The beam is steered by fast-moving galvo mirrors that continuously scan it across the wall rather than holding it on one spot. Because any single point is only struck for a tiny fraction of the scan cycle, the time-averaged exposure at that point is far below the full 4.9mW output — making the projected image significantly safer than a stationary 4.9mW beam
Class IIIa is defined under 21 CFR 1040.10 as any laser with an accessible output between 1mW and 5mW. Each unit's label lists a maximum output of 4.9mW to maintain margin below that 5mW ceiling, and every unit is individually set to a nominal output of 4mW at manufacturing

Every LZRvision projector ships with the label below, identifying its laser classification, output specifications, and regulatory compliance.

Never stare directly into the beam or view it with optical instruments (binoculars, cameras, etc.)
Do not point the projector at people, aircraft, vehicles, or reflective surfaces
Keep the device out of reach of children and untrained users
Mount the projector securely so it cannot be knocked or redirected unexpectedly
Power off the device when it is not actively in use or unattended
Do not attempt to open, modify, disassemble, or bypass the housing or any other part of the module
